**Make music at the speed of typing.**

Mini Musical Code Box is a DAW and live performance tool built around one idea: **the command prompt is an instrument.** Your whole song is one page of text (tracks, patterns, effects, the arrangement), and a command line on top of it understands plain English.

```
kick 5 of 16
ratchet the hats
bass: louder, more reverb, down an octave
in 4 bars mute everything but the drums
fade out the pad over 8 bars
```

Every command lands on the next step. The music never stops while you work, so writing *is* performing. A short tour on first start has you making changes within a couple of minutes.

**Read the whole user guide free before you buy:** it's the PDF in the downloads below, with every command in it.

### Zone in

- **One screen, one prompt, hands on the keyboard.** No windows to dig through, no menus to hunt in.

- **Say it the way you'd say it:** `drop`, `bring it back`, `add a long snare roll`, `fill the hats`, `make the lead a soundfont strings`.

- **Moves in time with the music:** fades and sweeps over bars, commands scheduled for the next bar, build-ups that bring the drums in one by one.

- **Play the set, prepare the next part:** patterns wait in the wings while you shape them, then `play p2` switches the whole song.

- **Snapshots:** `snap` before you improvise, `snap back` when you want it back.

- **Stage tools:** a metronome, a count-in, tap tempo, sliders for any setting, beat repeats and tape stops.

- **Hold F3 and say it instead** (Windows; speech recognition runs on your PC).

- **Visuals that move with every track**, made for projectors and streams, with your webcam behind them if you like (black and white, thermal, pixelated, outlined, tinted, pulsing on the beat).

### A real DAW underneath

- **8 tracks:** synth voices, a drum synth with 9 drums, sample kits, and about 280 real instruments from the included GeneralUser GS SoundFont (or load your own .sf2).

- **Samplers:** your own one-shots as drums (up to 16 pads a kit, sample pack folders load whole), and your own recordings as instruments: drop in a recording (or a folder, one note per range) and `add a sampler with rhodes` plays it at every note, the song's root note playing it exactly as recorded.

- **Effects on every track:** drive, bitcrush, EQ, filters, compression, chorus, flanger, phaser, tempo-synced delay and reverb, tremolo, auto-pan and sidechain ducking.

- **Mixing like a studio:** shared reverb and echo sends, and a master with glue compression and a limiter. `master the song` gives a finished-sounding chain in one go, and a fully commented demo mix shows how.

- **Pattern tricks:** Euclidean rhythms (`kick 5 of 16`), ratchets, steps that play only some of the time, slides, inverted melodies, arpeggios, reverse, and more. `copy all p1 to p2` copies a whole part across every track.

- **Keys and scales:** major, minor, blues, the modes, pentatonics and more. Change the key and everything follows.

- **Glide** on synths and real instruments, for leads, basses and strings.

- **Envelopes on any track:** attack, decay, sustain and release, in words: `make the pad plucky`, `longer release on the lead`.

- **Automation lanes** for every pattern: draw them with the mouse, or just say `pump the volume on the pad`.

- **Song mode:** arrange parts as `p1 x2, p2 x4, p3 x4`, sweep a filter or a fade across a whole part, and watch the arrangement light up as it plays.

- **Instant export to WAV**, rendered faster than real time.

- **Play and record from a MIDI keyboard:** `arm the lead and bass`, press play, and what you play is written into their patterns (USB or Bluetooth).

- **Record loops** from your mic, in time with the bar.

- **Undo for everything:** every command and every edit.

### Yours to shape

- The song is plain text you can read, edit, share and keep.

- **Teach it your own words:** `teach: hats go crazy = fill the hats`

- Your own samples, SoundFonts, fonts, backgrounds and colors.

### Offline, no account

No cloud, no subscription, no sign-in. MMCB reads your commands with its own rules and a phrasebook you can edit, and nothing you make leaves your computer.
